Mr. King is a general litigator who concentrates in the areas of securities litigation and arbitration, consumer fraud antitrust and other class actions, and director and officer fiduciary and shareholder litigation. Mr. King also advises clients regarding electronic discovery and records retention.
Representative Experience
Mr. King has represented large and small securities issuers and their officers and directors in litigation including cases involving Sears, Roebuck & Co., Whitehall Jewelers, Inc., Spiegel, Inc., The Interpublic Group of Companies, and F&M Distributors, Inc. He also has represented underwriters such as Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers and Drexel Burnham in litigation arising out of initial public offerings of stock. These cases typically are filed as class actions and make claims under the Securities Act of 1933 or the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
Mr. King has represented directors and officers in breach of fiduciary duty and other shareholder litigation. Further, he has worked on a number of major corporate control matters including attempted freeze-outs, hostile takeovers and proxy contests involving Sears Roebuck, Safety-Kleen Corporation, Metromail, Ticketmaster, Specialty Equipment Companies, CNW and Sun Electric. Mr. King has handled over 60 arbitration matters filed around the country..
Mr. King also has experience in a number of antitrust class actions involving the health care services and pharmaceutical companies.
Mr. King also has experience in managing discovery, factual analysis and trial preparation in large-scale, complex, multimillion document cases including Sun Microsytems v. Microsoft Corp., the A-12 litigation (the largest government contracts case ever filed), and cases for Allstate Insurance. Mr. King’s experience includes extensive work with document management and retrieval systems and databases.
