Ian Patterson is a respected IT strategist with 19 years of experience in the analysis, design, development and implementation of hardware, software and security . Patterson joined Scottrade in 2005 and has led the IT expansion and growth that will allow the St. Louis-based online brokerage to continue to grow its business and serve its customer accounts.
In his time at Scottrade, Patterson has led the design and implementation of the firm’s new $25 million data center, the largest technology investment ever made by the company. He manages an IT staff of 150 associates, including overseeing the team responsible for Scottrade’s host-based network and applications security.
Scottrade’s data center and security systems are among the most advanced in the country. Scottrade’s systems are capable of processing one million transactions each day while maintaining a secure and fast Web experience for customers.
In 2007, Patterson was named to Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders, a list of the country’s leading IT executives. Also in 2007, under Patterson’s leadership, Scottrade was named to the CIO 100, an award that recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology, and to the InformationWeek 500, a list of the most innovative users of information technology in the U.S. Additionally, Scottrade has been the online brokerage with the fastest Web site speed since April 2006, according to Gomez, the online measurement company.
Patterson’s responsibilities include the supervision of all customer application development, mainframe books and records operations, internal enterprise applications, security and a 24/7 operations staff that supports the data center and internal network for more than 335 branch offices. All voice, data, development, desktop support, computer technology, and functionality is run in-house and supervised by Patterson.
Prior to joining Scottrade, Patterson was the Senior Manager of IT Strategy at Deloitte. He also previously held positions at Pivotpoint and Electronic Data Systems. Some of Patterson’s past clients include General Motors, Del Monte Foods, Graybar and W.W. Grainger. Patterson has a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona.
